Terms and Conditions of Service
1. Introduction
1.1 By signing up for the RAK Virtual Work Experience UK platform (“RAK” or “the Platform”), you agree to participate in virtual work experience activities on projects owned by our partner companies.
1.2 RAK is independently owned and operated. We collaborate with partner organisations, beginning with The African Village Limited UK (“TAV”), to provide a virtual environment where you can contribute to live or simulated projects for the purposes of portfolio building.
1.3 Your participation on the Platform is voluntary and unpaid. You are joining as a paying participant in a professional virtual work experience programme, not as an employee, worker, or contractor of RAK or any partner company.
1.4 These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and RAK Virtual Work Experience UK.
2. Work and Engagement
2.1 The work experience offered involves contributing to projects owned and managed by partner companies such as TAV. Additional partner companies may be added in future.
2.2 You are expected to contribute meaningfully to the projects during your participation, as this experience is designed to help you gain relevant UK work exposure aligned with your professional qualifications.
2.3 While your contributions may be used in real projects, your involvement is for experiential purposes and does not constitute employment.
3. Residency and Right to Work in the UK
3.1 If you are resident in the UK, you must provide valid documentation proving your legal right to work in the UK before you may participate in activities that involve live project contributions.
3.2 If you are physically present in the UK without proof of the legal right to work, you are prohibited from engaging in any live project work on the Platform.
3.3 If you are resident outside the UK, you may participate remotely without providing UK right-to-work documentation. However, if you enter the UK at any point during your subscription, your participation in live project work will cease immediately upon entry into UK jurisdiction unless and until you provide valid proof of the legal right to work in the UK and receive written confirmation from RAK that you may resume such activities.
3.4 By using this Platform, you confirm that either:
You have a valid right to work in the UK; or
You are not physically present in the UK.
4. Subscription Access
4.1 Your purchase of a Team Member package entitles you to continuous access to the virtual platform. 4.2 Subscription to the free Explorer package grants you limited access to the virtual platform.
5. Unpaid Nature of Work
5.1 All project contributions on the Platform are unpaid. You will not receive financial compensation for your time, effort, or deliverables.
6. Work Reference and Fee
6.1 You may request a work reference from the relevant partner company after successfully completing a project.
6.2 There is fee of £250 for a written work reference from a participating company.
6.3 The reference will reflect the quality and quantity of your contributions.
6.4 There is no fixed timeframe for requesting references.
7. Intellectual Property (IP)
7.1 You agree that all intellectual property rights in any work you create for a project on the Platform will, upon creation, automatically and exclusively belong to the relevant partner company (e.g., TAV), without further action or compensation to you.
7.2 You waive any future claims of ownership or compensation for such work.
8. Third-Party Opportunities
8.1 While your work may begin with TAV projects, you may be offered opportunities to work on projects with other partner companies. Such opportunities are optional and may have additional terms provided at the time.
9. Group Live Work Sessions
9.1 Live work sessions will be held regularly as announced by the Platform admin and as may be requested by partner companies.
9.2 These sessions support teamwork, communication, and project progress.
9.3 You are encouraged to attend, but the Platform accepts no liability for missed sessions or technical difficulties.
10. Flexible Project Work
You are encouraged to collaborate with project teams outside scheduled live sessions. All contributions should be logged in the Platform for tracking purposes.
11. Technical Requirements
11.1 You must provide your own equipment and maintain a stable internet connection capable of supporting online collaboration and video conferencing.
11.2 The Platform is not liable for technical failures that prevent participation.
12. Data Protection & GDPR Compliance
12.1 By joining the Platform, you consent to RAK collecting, storing, and processing your personal information solely for the purposes of managing your participation.
12.2 We are committed to GDPR compliance and apply appropriate safeguards to protect your data.
13. No Refund Policy
13.1 All fees paid for joining the Platform are non-refundable, regardless of your level of participation.
14. Participant Conduct
14.1 You agree to maintain professional behaviour.
14.2 Harassment, disruptive behaviour, or inappropriate conduct will result in immediate removal without any form of refund.
15. Termination Due to Right-to-Work Expiration
15.1 If your legal right to work in the UK expires during your subscription, your access to live project activities will be terminated as of the expiry date.
15.2 You must notify RAK immediately if your right-to-work status changes. No refunds will be issued.
16. Force Majeure
16.1 RAK and its partner companies are not liable for delays or service interruptions caused by events outside their control, including natural disasters, internet outages, or government restrictions.
17. Governing Law
17.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of UK courts.
